Mike Picos is an artist and educator from Fishkill, NY. He works as a high school art teacher in a public school in Queens, NY. His paintings navigate the historical linkages shared by geometry and the grid with formal and informal methods of education. Picos’s work employs a variety of painting techniques, layering and masking within hand-drawn grids and geometric structures to create compositions that draw from educational tools, arts and crafts traditions, and vernacular digital art.
